Recently in youth group we've been talking about how to be more Christlike. If you're anything like me, that can feel really difficult and overwhelming. Afterall...Christ was perfect! Talk about setting the bar high. None of us will ever be just like Christ, so a lot of us say to ourselves, "what's the point in even trying?...I'll never make it."
While it's true that we'll never "make it," I think God is simply asking us to be obedient in the little everyday things of life. He's not necessarily asking us to go out and become lifelong missionairies tomorrow or enroll in the nearest seminary next semester. He is asking for us to strive to see the world like He does and make our decisions based on that.
I think the best way to see how Christ sees or think like Christ thinks is to spend time with Him. It's just like a best friend...you can finish each other's sentences and immediately know how they are going to react to a situation. How can this be?....it's because you talk with them and hang out with them all the time. You ask them questions, you tell them how you feel...you get the idea. The same is true with our relationship with Christ. The more we talk with Him and listen to Him and spend time in His word...the more we'll act like Him and think like Him.
So, on three, let's all take one step in Christ's direction....1....2.....3....GO!
